![]() With those developments like the eGPU my (c)MP 5.1 - production date only just from December 2012! - will lasts much longer then the intended replace cycle for Apple's wallet. A very exiting development for us users of a current (c)MP! WOW, some guys will never give-up beating Apple's no-pro-all-mass and toys-for-boys 'new' products. rom tweaks to make PC GPU's EFI compatible. 120GT / 8800GT / GTX-285 / GTX 6xxM / GTX-680 On the other hand, in the MacRumors commnity there are some tests in progress for making external "eGPU" mounted in Thunderbolt 1/2 enclosures or making some handcrafted. Thanks for your reply, appreciated! EVGA, nVidia and of cource the red-team, did convert graphics cards to the Mac Edition in the past, but I also understand that now Apple is WELDING all parts into their new systems, that there would be a smaller after market for those Mac owners who buy add-ons e.g. That's not to say it won't happen, but EVGA has to go through those extra steps to get them to be officially supported for Mac systems. However, like with most hardware that goes into Macs, Apple's hardware certification system is proprietary and EVGA would have to modify the power and performance levels of such a card to be able to qualify as a Mac product. NordicJedi I could see a 980 or a 970 being made into a Mac Edition card, simply because power levels are much lower, compared to the 700 series.
